Using forums to generate targeted traffic is well known as being effective. However, it can take a long time to establish yourself on a forum. In this article I am going to give you 3 tips on how to establish your own forum marketing quickly.

Tip #1 – Forum Activity

Find active forums that have a lot of people participating. This sounds obvious but many marketers waste hours on a forum when there is little activity from the members. Not only that, but you need to make sure that the activity is at a convenient time for you.

Since forums are populated by people world wide you will discover that the forum has highly active time periods throughout the day.

This might be at coffee break time mid morning or late in the evening.

If it means that you have to stay up late in order to get the most out of your forum marketing efforts then this might be necessary.

Action

At certain times during the day see how many people are active on your forum and how many new threads have started between each time you visit the forum. This will give you a good idea of the best time to participate.

Tip #2 – Your Target

Using a forum for marketing purposes is a way for you to demonstrate your expertise and reputation as someone willing and able to help. This means that you need to be clear on what it is you can help people with. Knowing this enables you to target the questions to answer that will fit best with your area of expertise.

One of the problems with forum marketing is getting caught up in threads that don’t allow you to offer valuable help. Instead you are just chatting and wasting time.

If you can target the questions to answer then you will get far better results from your efforts.

Action

Look at the topics in the forum and if there are categories decide which ones will fit in with your expertise. Search for posts with these key words in.

Whenever possible try to be the first one to answer any question that fit your business niche.

Tip #3 – Consistency

In order to establish yourself you need to be consistent and participate regularly. This might mean spending a set amount of time each day being involved in the forum.

Action

Decide how long you will spend each day on the forum and only spend this amount of time. Don’t go over this time allocation or you will begin to lose focus. Having a set time to participate will motivate you to spent quality time on the forum rather than just browsing.
